An appraisal must contain certain information in order to properly serve your needs. Conforming to the standards set forth by the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, we maintain this information is present in every appraisal we perform.

What is an appraisal?

An appraisal is an opinion as to the authenticity, quality, design and value of a piece of property based on and supported by training, equipment and experience in the field of jewelry appraising.

It is a written statement independently and impartially prepared by a qualified appraiser, setting forth an opinion of the defined value of an adequately described property of a specific date and supported by the presentation and analysis of relative market information.

Reasons for a having an appraisal:

Special Note: An item of jewelry has many different values depending on why you are having it appraised.

Obtaining insurance in order to be protected in case of loss or damage.

Note: An insurance appraisal is only appropriate for use by your insurance company, it is not valid for selling an item or for any other purpose.

Settle inheritance, probate or estate requirements.

Bankruptcy (generally ordered by an attorney)

Liquidation appraisal is used to determine the value of an item if sold.

Divorce (legal document for division of property)

Curiosity - usually a verbal consultation, for those interested in less detailed information Note: A verbal consultation is just that, written documentation is not provided.
